Paul Cezanne Detail from ‘Les Grande Baigneuses’ National Gallery of Art

Are you unemployed? Do you suffer from insomnia? Are you a museum junkie? Don’t have the funds to start a masterpiece collection from Christies or Sothebys auctions? If you answer yes to any of these questions help is on the way. Just plug into the tech world’s latest venture: Google Art Project and you can while your hours away in absolute bliss.  You can travel from the Ufizzi in Florence, to the MoMa in New York then zip across to the Hermitage in Saint Petersburg in seconds, but chances are you’ll dawdle along the way to check out magnified views of swirling brush strokes in Van Gogh’s Starry Night, gaze into the nude Venus’ pupil and romp with Cezanne’s bare bottom bathers. The site is  undergoing growing pangs and is a bit scrappy to navigate and there is no Mona Lisa to tear into, but hey you have little to lose but precious time. Even if you are none of the above you might be fascinated by the miniscule details that come to life. The brains behind this project is a young man from India, Amit Sood.
